Howdy there,

Now we all know that social media is the the major buzz sector when it comes
to marketing, right. It’s impossible to go a day without someone trying to convince you
how it’s going to change the face of advertising forever.

We’ll it has the potential, but I’m not so sure…

In all reality, how many companies or entrepreneurs are really
taking advantage of the amazing ability that social media offers to build
relationships, and target prospects to it’s full potential. And how effective is
sending a tweet that will most get lost amongst the thousands
of other messages being tweeted at the same time.

Now I’m definitely not against social media as a marketing tool. I actually think it is
very effective but…. In fact that’s probably the reason why your reading my post right now.
And in a minute I’m going to show you how a online retailer used twitter to clear it’s
end of season stock within days.

But someone just jumping on, tweeting their offer, and waiting til the next time they
have something to sell before they engage again, will never work.

Just like a good email marketer, social media savvy advertising all ties into the skill
and insight a marketer has for his or her target market.
We must know our market to know what will get them to follow our
tweets or facebook post through the sales funnel to where we want them.

So once we know what our market wants, and have engaged our network, offered value and
all that, then we can start to pitch our prospects and try to make some sales…

Now to the point of all this…

Today, I want to introduce a new tool that marketers can use target users that aren’t follinw them,
and also show a recent case where a fashion retailer used promoted tweets to earn a 1200% ROI and clear
out surplus stock.

So what’s a promoted tweet….

It’s a new platform that twitter is rolling out to allow businesses to pay to have their
tweets sent to a targets timeline. In much the same way that facebook ads can be targeted
to people interest. Promoted Tweets show up in relevant timelines where the user has shown and

This will be a very handy tool for those who learn to utilize it and get on board early. As it is reasonably cheap and users will be interested and not annoyed by your tweets showing up in their timeline.

Now I’m not one to chase after the latest gadgets or fads. But when an opportunity arises
it is only wise to investigate and see if we can use new technology to our financial benefit.

Anyway back to the company that has recently used this new twitter ad platform with success. Cause that’s what we’re all here for right.

Bonobos an online men’s retailer, was looking to move its end-of-season inventory as well as attract new customers. After teasing the sale ahead of its launch via Twitter, the fashion brand announced a 24 hour ‘flash sale’ that promised pairs of normally US$88 chinos for US$49, provided the promoted tweet was retweeted at least 49 times.

This one campaign managed to bring in over 100 hundred new customers and was instantly successful
with more than 80 retweets in the first 8 minutes…

Imagine that kind of traffic for your business or website. It’s all very interesting and I would definitely be looking deeper into this.
