The title of today’s post is the same as the title of one of
the chapters in Advertising legend John Caples Famous book.
“Tested Advertising Methods”
It also one the most over important, yet overlooked, factors in ensuring that you
squeeze as much value out of every single dollar, you ever spend
on absolutely any advertising or marketing for your business.
Here’s the big lesson for the day.
“You must know EXACTLY how many dollars you make, on every dollar spent
on marketing and advertising your business.”
Put simply if you don’t test how your advertising performs, you can’t analyze
the results. If you can’t analyze the results, you can’t know what’s
working and what’s not. And if you don’t know what’s working then
you can’t use those critical information to make sure that you are investing your
money in the highest ROI advertising…
Not only that. But you’re wasting such a great opportunity to develop systems
in your business that you KNOW, will work time after time and give you
the peace of mind, that comes with understanding exactly where your profits
are coming from, and how to replicate and duplicate those results.
Especially with so much business taking place online now. There is no excuse
to not be tracking how your marketing is performing. And I don’t mean in general terms
like, oh we are a bit busier this month it must have something to do with
our new social media presence.
No I’m talking about specific dollar value such as:
We spent $122.64 on our facebook ads campaign.
With a click through rate (CTR) of 0.02%.
At a cost of $0.84 per click.
For a total of of 146 leads.
You can then take it further and see how many of those
leads converted into sales and so on…
None of this is rocket science, yet the insights you will
gain from setting up systems to catch this kind of data.
Will put a rocket right up your current advertising efforts.
Google analytics is a great place to start and if you do not have their
tracking code on your site already then you’re missing out on thousands of
dollars of sales purely through ignorance.
All PPC, email marketing and basically any traffic generation technique, can be tracked with
ease so there’s no excuse. Except of course if you don’t feel like making more money.
