How A Powerful Headline Can Boost Your Sales
For many business owners when they think of marketing, copywriting is the last thing on their mind.
Hundreds, thousands even tens of thousands of dollars are spent on websites, brochures, print advertisements and online marketing.
Yet the specific message conveyed to customers – The words that enter through their eyes, create images in their mind and inspire a need for your product or service – are thrown together at the last minute once the new marketing piece looks pretty and makes YOU feel good.
Now I’m not saying design is not important. It is…
But it’s only part of the story. So here I want to show you why a great headline is so important and how you can create a really “show stopping” one for your business.
How to Create a “Show Stopping Headline”
If the headline of your newspaper ad, website, brochure or in-store marketing doesn’t reach out and grab your targets interest the rest of it might as well be written in “Ancient Egyptian Symbols”.
People are bombarded with advertising everyday (I won’t bore you with another stat here), most of which doesn’t apply to them so they become numb to all of it.
Now this is a big problem for business owner’s spending money on advertising. So here is a “little trick” to overcome their numbness and ignite their interest.
You only care about attracting the people that will buy your product right?
So what benefit will they get if they give you money?
What problem will you solve?
How the “HELL” are you going to make their life better?
Take the time to pinpoint the answer to these questions put it in front of your target market and there you have it.
No massive secret. No impossible task.
But it does take time, research and true empathy for your intended customers fears and desires.
Can I ask you right now, does your website headline do the above?
Or is it some “wishy-washy” opening about your business, how long you been in business, who you are, blah…blah…blah.
If it is I urge you right now to take the time to really get inside the skin of your customers and find out why they are really buying your products or services.
What’s keeping them up at night? What will they pay top dollar to have, to fix, to learn?
Once you find this you have the headline for all your marketing efforts.
Then all you have to do is come up with the rest or your message J
But that’s for another time.
